To co-ordinate, manage and deliver problem solving to the Force, ensuring that problem solving is connected to Preventative policing with a clear link and supportive provision to operational policing.
To ensure that performance is monitored and reported on, with mechanisms in place to record best practice and lessons learnt.
Enable communication pathways using technology and innovation. Build contacts from outside of force and work with other agencies to build opportunities. Provide Policing Area Command Teams with support, guidance and briefings that enable effective tasking of resources.
Supervise a small team of Police Staff problem solving co-ordinators and administration, providing day-to-day line management.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage Problem Solving and Crime Prevention in the county, representing Warwickshire Police at partner agency meetings offering tactical guidance and advice.
2. Work closely with partners and stakeholders to identify points of contact within District and Borough Councils to ensure professional ownership of problem solving and prevention.
3. Maintain auditable records and data to quantify the changes in problem solving and benefits of crime reduction activities.
4. Deliver presentations, briefings and education within the force and to partners for Problem Solving and Prevention.
5. Work with Operational leads and Problem Solving Co-ordinators to identify opportunities of utilising resources across agencies and departments.
6. Respond to concerns raised around problem solving and prevention, preparing written replies and reports.
7. Provide tactical advice to senior meetings and staff regarding crime trends and community problems.
8. Represent Warwickshire Police at external meetings, conferences and events.
9. Develop relationships and networks that maximise opportunities to resolve emerging risks and trends.
10. Ensure problem solving and prevention implementation is delivered through relevant planning and action plans.
11. Act as a point of contact between Warwickshire Police and community groups engaged in problem solving processes.
12. Undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
Knowledge:
* Educated to A level/ NVQ level 3, or equivalent work experience.
* Thorough understanding of the practical application of the Scanning, Analysis, Response and Assessment (SARA) methodology.
* Understanding of the National Crime Prevention Strategy and the Crime and Disorder act 1998.
* A working knowledge of statistical formulae and the presentation of data.
Experience:
* Experience of researching and analysing information from a range of sources to identify trends.
* Experience of presenting data in clear and concise reports.
* Experience of using problem solving methodologies.
Key Skills:
* Excellent IT skills including the use of standard IT packages, systems and/or databases.
* Able to manage time and prioritise work in order to meet deadlines.
* Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
* Able to breakdown a straightforward problem into component parts.
* Able to interpret and apply guidance to a specific activity.
* Able to produce concise reports or other documents.
* Able to use resources efficiently and identify potential opportunities.
Special Conditions:
The duties of this post involve exposure to information that describes violent crime or behaviour.
Regular travel throughout Warwickshire - Casual Car User.
