SEN Teaching Assistant – Tameside Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Secondary School in Tameside Start Date: January 2025 A forward-thinking secondary school in Tameside is seeking an empathetic and resourceful SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in January 2025. This role will involve working closely with students who have special educational needs, including those with learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will be integral to creating a supportive and inclusive environment, ensuring every student feels confident in their learning journey. Responsibilities: Personalised Support: Provide tailored one-on-one or small-group support to students with varied learning needs, using adaptable techniques to accommodate each student's pace and style of learning. Classroom Assistance: Work alongside class teachers to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support differentiated instruction to ensure all students have equal access to the curriculum. Behavioural and Emotional Support: Aid students in developing social and emotional skills, guiding them in strategies for self-regulation, and reinforcing positive behaviour. Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of each student’s progress, sharing insights and updates with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and classroom teachers to inform adjustments in support plans. Ideal Candidate: A successful candidate will have prior experience working with SEN students and a background in education or youth work.
