Job Description
We are currently recruiting for Senior Project Controls Engineers to undertake duties within our Yorkshire based, Infrastructure, Project Controls team, supporting projects across the energy, defence, rail, airports, highways, water and utilities sectors.
You will work as part of our Project Controls team on high-profile infrastructure projects, providing performance reporting and analysis support. This may be part of a large team or as the key day-to-day contact point with the client.
Typical activities include working with cost and planning engineers to develop work breakdown structures and robust performance baselines, establishing progress and cost monitoring methods, producing project control reports and providing performance analysis and recommendations for our clients.
Previous experience working in a project controls environment within the infrastructure sector (Energy, Defence, Rail, Airports, Highways, Water / Utilities) is required, as is experience in at least one of the following: Programme Controls Management, Earned Value (EVM), Change & Risk Management, Planning, Project Controls and or PMO.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Demonstrable knowledge of best practice planning principles; understanding of project and business objectives and drivers, translation of how a client specific life cycle or procurement strategy may impact the plan, execution planning, consultation with critical individuals and documents. Defining what does success look like?
2. Technical competence in schedule construction; work breakdown structures, working calendars, task creation and duration estimation, schedule logic, critical path networks, resource and cost allocation, and the allocation of buffers.
3. Working knowledge of planning systems such as Primavera, Project Online, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject.
4. Assurance reviews - ensuring that all schedules are of a high quality, evidenced by using Primavera Schedlog, Acumen Fuse, DCMA 14 Point Checklist or simply a conscientious attitude towards the self-checking of work prior to submission.
5. Effective schedule monitoring and control; baseline management, planning workshops, progress data collection, performance measurement, variance reporting, escalation of issues.
6. Evaluation of project status; where should we be, where are we, what is the impact? This may take the form of chairing weekly meetings, progress reporting, composition of schedule narratives, participation in risk reviews, recovery and scenario planning and making recommendations.
7. Ownership of driving a positive can-do culture on your commission for Schedule Management. Holding work package owners to account for their performance, designing fit for purpose outputs to suit varying stakeholder needs, the identification of key interfaces and dependencies, implementing meeting governance to ensure effective communication and coordination.
