We are seeking a Group Tax Director to join our team and lead OUP’s tax affairs in alignment with our charitable business objectives.

Key accountabilities:
* Ensure agreed tax policy remains current according to business needs and make recommendations for changes to Audit Committee.
* Prepare biannual reports for Group Audit Committee.
* Lead preservation of tax exemptions by monitoring internal and external developments and policing compliance with local regulations.
* Provide practical, technical advice to the business on structuring new business initiatives, including sales arrangements and appropriate corporate structures.
* Identify tax risks worldwide along with proposals for their evaluation and mitigation, and oversee management of major tax issues in conjunction with local management.
* Ensure all group businesses comply with local tax requirements.
* Prepare UK corporation and any necessary non-resident tax returns, dealing with resulting queries from HMRC.
* Drive a culture of excellence, enabling and supporting development within the team.
* Act as principal liaison with Oxford University’s tax department and UK/Group tax advisers and auditors.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
A confident communicator with line management experience, you’ll have a good understanding of global business models. You’ll also have:
* A UK tax qualification and be a qualified accountant.
* In-depth experience of UK and substantial experience of international taxation.
* In-depth knowledge of the taxation of UK charities.
* The ability to communicate strong financial concepts to non-financial people.
* Experience of dealing with challenging situations whilst maintaining strong working relationships.
* Strong business understanding and commercial awareness.
Knowledge of the publishing industry would be advantageous.
