Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Transport Planner to support the Minworth site’s transport operation. As a Senior Transport Planner, you will manage and oversee the day-to-day operation, ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained.
Ideally, you will be a highly driven individual with significant transport experience within a FMCG environment, along with proven knowledge surrounding drivers’ hours, etc.
Shift Pattern: Any 5 in 7 days (predominantly Monday-Friday), 7am-3pm OR 11am-7pm
Salary: £35,000 - £37,446 per annum DOE
Key Duties of a Senior Transport Planner include:
Optimising resource and adherence of WTD and drivers’ hours legislation.
Planning driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery and collection times, creating and updating daily run summaries.
Creating an effective transport plan to achieve on time delivery and collection performance expectations.
Effectively communicating with the Planning Team and other depots.
Providing 24/7 communication transport link with customer services and sales order processing.
Monitoring retailer arrival and departure times, ensuring deliveries are made within the specified windows.
Finding the best fit solution for customer collections, adhering to collection times.
Providing the Admin Team with schedules to maintain and achieve KPI’s.
Arranging deliveries using nominated contractors for special instruction deliveries.
Communicating any potential failures or changes to the original plan.
Ensuring all accidents, incidents and near misses are logged and reported.
Liaising with and planning Drivers in for meetings and courses as required.
Managing vehicle cleanliness to ensure that the company’s corporate image is maintained at all times.
Qualifications
As a Senior Transport Planner you will possesses the following skills, experiences and qualifications:
Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
Strong planning and organisational skills, with a high level of numeracy.
Negotiating skills with the ability to influence and steer.
Flexible and methodical approach to work and training.
Strong communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
Consumer orientated and customer service driven.
Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure the smooth running of the general operation.
Have proven knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
Have significant experience in FMCG environment.
Knowledge of Paragon and Road Runner systems would be advantageous.
