To supervise and maintain the Pharmacy clinical trials service in accordance with ICH GCP guidelines and Pharmacy procedures and ensure provision of a high quality service to patients and staff within the Trust. Undertake the receipt, dispensing, accountability, returns and destruction of clinical trials in the clinical trials pharmacies in the main pharmacy and the Quadram Institute (QI) Clinical Research Facility (CRF) ensuring all trials are managed in accordance with GCP. To ensure dispensing, storage and expiry date records for clinical trials are kept up-to-date and archived for future reference. To manage quarantined clinical trials medication and report results of quarantined medicine investigations to the clinical trials pharmacists. To plan, organise and manage the daily workload of the pharmacy clinical trials service in conjunction with the clinical trials pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants. To maintain the pharmacy site file for all clinical trials. To provide, in conjunction with the appropriate Clinical Pharmacy Practitioners, a ward technician medicines management service on specified wards. To undertake drug history taking in conjunction with the appropriate Clinical Pharmacy Practitioners on specified wards. To provide counselling advice to patients on their medicines, providing advice to patients and carers about compliance issues. To organise and undertake the dispensing and distribution of all medicines against a previously clinically checked prescription or request in line with departmental policies and procedures and the Medicines Act 1965 using the JAC computer system.
