An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Divisional Director of Nursing for Cancer at UHSussex Foundation Trust, which is one of the largest providers in cancer care in the NHS. To be considered for this role, you will likely be operating in a senior nurse role at band 8b/8c, have strong operational nursing leadership skills, and have significant experience of delivering cancer care.
Reporting to the Chief of Division, the DDoN works in partnership with the Chief of Division and Divisional Operations Director. These three roles, ‘Divisional Triumvirate’, have operational accountability for the workforce, service delivery, clinical quality & safety, and financial control for the division. Together as a team, the Triumvirate are responsible for defining divisional & Trust-wide objectives relevant to cancer, palliative & End of Life Care to meet corporate goals and for ensuring that quality standards are met, and performance addressed where this is not the case.
The post holder will also take a lead role in developing the workforce and strategic plan for the circa £200m capital development for a new Sussex Cancer Centre planned at the Brighton site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be a visible and credible leader, modelling & reinforcing the Trust values & behaviours at all times.
2. Provide professional & strategic leadership to the nurses, midwives & AHPs within their division to ensure they are appropriately supervised & managed and are delivering high-quality care.
3. Work closely with key members of the divisional team as well as the corporate executive & nursing teams.
4. Lead on developing the division’s objectives in relation to patient outcomes, including the development & maintenance of care standards for all patients.
