Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologist Neurophysiology

Provides a comprehensive Clinical Neurophysiological investigative service to patients of all ages from a large range of specialties suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those which may be neurological and/or psychiatric in nature.
* Provide Complex adult and paediatric EEG, sleep EEG (including inpatient and outpatient long-term monitoring), NCS and evoked potential studies.
* Responsible for the efficient and effective ordering and management of physical resources.
* Plan, implement, deliver and assess training of Trainee and qualified Clinical Physiologists (Neurophysiology), and other Health Professionals.
* Able to lead staff to use new and existing technology.
* Initiate and participate in audit.
Main duties of the job
This is a full-time Band 7 post and you will be expected to participate in all areas of the department including EEG services, NCS and Evoked potential services on patients from neonate to the elderly and with a wide variety of conditions and disorders.
You will initially be supporting the long-term monitoring of patients undergoing HVT and videotelemetry on the ward, alongside the Lead, and to support inpatient appointment planning. This will be on a rotating basis and will need good planning and communication skills, working with varied healthcare staff, patients and carers.
You will be expected to support the trainees within the department and so experience of training and assessing would be useful.
* Responsible in supporting the provision of a quality, Specialist Clinical Neurophysiology Service.
* Works collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with others to ensure service needs are met.
* Performs, interprets and reports a wide range of routine and non-routine Neurophysiological investigations.
* Assists in managing the day-to-day management/supervision of the Clinical Physiologist and all administrative staff.
* Supervision, teaching, training and assessment of less experienced staff.
* Expertise and specialist interest in an area - long-term EEG monitoring.
* Undertake day-to-day management of the Neurophysiology service in the absence of the service manager.

Job responsibilities
* Plan, perform, interpret and report a wide range of routine and non-routine Neurophysiology Investigations to a high level of competence on adults, children, and babies including subjects with physical disability, learning difficulties, with challenging behaviour and barriers to understanding.
* Develop and implement protocols, policies, and guidelines that impact on the Trust and other Healthcare providers relating to this service.
* Provide specialist advice to Consultants and other Healthcare workers. Provide information on the appropriateness of specialised investigations taking into consideration the patients' medical history and provisional diagnosis.
* Provide a point of contact from Consultants for patients' referrals.
* Work collaboratively with other professionals; medical, Nursing, Technical, Portering, Transport, Administrative staff and agencies to ensure service(s) meet changing healthcare needs.
* Contribute to the planning and organisation of information resources, ensuring effective and administrative patient reporting and data storage.
* Develop and maintain the section database and teaching materials.
* Initiate and participate in Clinical Audit.
* Support for stock control of consumables and contribute to procurement of new/replacement equipment for the services.
* Communicate with Consultant Neurophysiologists and other medical staff concerning test results.
* Communicate service-related information to patients, carers and other service users.
