We want somebody to join our engineering component team as we embark on a programme of infrastructure / application upgrades and technology management through our delivery across on-premises and cloud hosting platforms. With responsibility for delivering the technical service and management of engineering capability across a lab wide component team covering application upgrades, management of the software components & infrastructure management, technology support and engagement with our GCIO & IBM partners for provision of infrastructure service delivery across our application estate, Webservices, UNIX, TSM and Databases. You will be responsible for supporting a complex financial reporting landscape as well as the existing/legacy ledgers and sub-ledgers. We're a group of people pulled together by our passion for coding, experimenting, designing, and learning everything that makes us better engineers. What you would get involved with… You would be working in a cross-disciplinary Lab wide team and will require close collaboration with the Lab feature team engineers, readiness for adoption of strategic cloud capabilities and help drive alignment and use of group standards and patterns. The role will be hands on with the right candidate having experience and actively participating in activities around engineering solutions across different hosting platforms, configuration, access management, integration, IaaS/PaaS across the following technologies: Window Server Linux (RHEL, AIX) Web Server technologies & Apache Tomcat, SAP Business Objects SAP BODS SAP BFC, BW, FIM NetWeaver Java Connect Direct Scripting / Infrastructure as Code Database technologies covering Oracle on-prem/CC, SAP HANA, SQL Server What you’ll need to be considered for this job… Generally, you are comfortable in a hands-on technical role, blending both software and infrastructure technical expertise. We encourage people from a range of role and industry backgrounds but do need to see the following as a minimum for consideration: 5 years Software / Infrastructure Engineering background with experience in IaaS scripting and strong UNIX skills. technical leadership experience and desire to help coach and mentor staff and colleagues, Great social interaction skills and a good communicator with technical and non-technical people, Passionate about Cloud/platform engineering and evaluating existing deployments to determine the best hosting strategy.
