Role Information:
We are recruiting for an experienced learner support advisor who can support our learners at our Wakefield Military Academy. Knowledge and experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is essential. * Provide learning support in 1:1 and groups capacity.
* Aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
* Provide modified materials, instructions, visual aids etc. as required (e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards).
* Make or modify resources as suggested and advised by the SENCo, Educational Psychologist, or other outside agencies.
* Organise and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
* Provide positive reinforcements, praise, and rewards to learners.
* Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with learners and support interaction between them.
* Attend in-service training and relevant meetings to keep up to date with developments.
* Work as part of the team to ensure that the well-being and personal development of the learner enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.
* Provide regular feedback to the SENCo and, where necessary, relevant outside agencies regarding learner difficulties and progress.
* Foster links between home and college.
* Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the learners’ needs and have regard to the safeguarding procedures of LCG.
* Carry out duties as directed by the SENCo.
* Advise and support tutors with making necessary adjustments for learners with learning support needs.
* Ensure Learning Support Plans and contact logs are updated accurately and timely.

* Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working with Post 16 learners.
* Have knowledge and experience of working with Post 16 learners with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).
* Have training in aspects of SEN, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism.
* GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.
* NVQ or equivalent as recognized by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning.
* Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural, and physical needs of learners.
* Adaptable and patient.
