If the answer is yes, then we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated AO Dental Receptionist to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff located at the Dental Centre Hereford.
The vacant post is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.
Job Description
The post holder will provide a friendly, efficient service to enable patients to access dental care. The duties of the post include arranging appointments and recalls for all entitled personnel ensuring maximum use of the clinicians’ time to meet Defence Primary Health Care (Dental) (DPHC (D)) targets for dental health. As well as providing administrative support for the surgeries, Senior Dental Officer (SDO) and the Practice Manager (PM).
Main details of the role include but are not limited to:
* As the initial point of contact for patients, the post holder must provide high-quality customer service both face to face and via the phone. Ensuring all telephone calls are managed appropriately, including completing a triage form for patients calling in pain and conveying this information to the Dental Officers (DOs). Ensuring all answerphone messages are actioned.
* Manage the appointment diary, booking patient appointments as requested by Dental Officers and the Dental Hygienist. Informing the clinician concerned should it prove impossible to appoint a patient at a particularly requested time. Checking patients in as they arrive, manage late arrivals through good communication with the dental officer and cancelling patients when required.
* Working with the team to complete routine administration tasks at the dental centre, including monitoring the group email box, answering basic email queries and highlighting any others to the practice manager. Packaging items (e.g. lab work) for posting, recording this (use of a digital app) and taking items to the post room. Collecting deliveries from the post room. Escorting visitors to the dental centre. Scanning on signed documents onto patient records.
Desirable Criteria
* Five GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent (including English Language or equivalent).
* NVQ Business Administration Level 2 (or suitable clerical experience).
* Administrative experience with a good knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written experience in a reception or customer services role.
* Experience of a healthcare, particularly dental, setting.

Alongside your salary of £26,235, Ministry of Defence contributes £7,600 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
