Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Electrical Construction/Commissioning Supervisor will support the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project, providing electrical support for early deliverables which will include, but is not limited to:
1. Preparing commissioning plan, scoped electrical drawings, subcontract packages, energization and synchronization procedures, work packages, and reviewing engineering design.
2. Being involved in the construction period and supporting the site start-up and commissioning process.
3. Managing electrical commissioning, including assigning systems and responsibilities to the electrical startup personnel under his/her direction. This will require coordinating with mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems disciplines and within the startup organization to complete all the necessary testing at the component level through integrated operation with the rest of the facility.
4. Preparing system testing and turnover documentation, including scoped documents, test records, test procedures, and other required documents.
5. Supervising and directing subcontractor personnel as required to support commissioning activities (e.g., HVAC, fire protection commissioning, metering and relay testing, etc.). Planning and monitoring work with the subcontractors and controlling it according to the contract terms to stay within the budget and schedule constraints. Reporting and documenting subcontractor work activities daily according to applicable procedures.
6. Completing testing Corporate Standard Test and Commissioning Procedures (STCP) and Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPP), pre-op procedures, and other specific procedures that may be required to prepare for this position. Completing all test records, data sheets, etc., to fully document testing activities.
7. Preparing system turnover packages by project procedures by assembling and reviewing all system test documentation (all disciplines) for adequacy and completeness.
8. Providing input to engineering on revisions required to system descriptions, vendor operating and maintenance manuals, etc., based on review of documents during the development of the preoperational test procedures and execution of the commissioning to ensure all such documents are consistent.
9. Preparing the necessary design change and non-conformance documents by procedures as required to document as-built conditions and correctly resolve deficiencies.
10. Preparing detailed startup plans for assigned project system commissioning activities and integrating all discipline activities into these plans; providing input and updates to project controls as required to maintain the accuracy and progress of project schedules, QURR, and other progress tracking tools.
11. Supervising field manual crafts as required to perform assigned tasks; monitoring and controlling craft performance and being accountable for the craft’s performance against the budget.
12. Overseeing and coordinating MEP Subcontractors as required.
13. Participating in system turnover walk-downs for Construction and Client turnovers; initiating, tracking, and resolving punch list items for assigned areas of responsibility.
14. Development of test plans and procedures.
15. Performing live electrical work by corporate procedures and guidance.
16. Executing work assignments using Microsoft Word and Excel and Access Standard Applications such as Aconex.
17. Performing other duties as directed in support of project activities.
Qualifications
1. High School graduation plus post-secondary training (preferably 309A electrician license) or equivalent education, training, and experience.
2. A minimum of 5 years recent related construction experience including a thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods, and processes.
3. Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of commissioning, basic project controls, material management, contract management, and subcontract management.
4. Track record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budget.
5. Current First Aid, WHMIS, and Working at Heights certifications.
