Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Secretary to join the Haematology Secretaries and Clerical team at Kettering General Hospital.
The post is available within the Pathology department. This offers excellent opportunities for an enthusiastic and conscientious person to provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to consultants, junior medical and specialist nursing staff in an efficient and timely manner, assisting in the organisation of their workload and contributing to the overall success of the service and patient care.
Main duties of the job
First point of contact for all forms of communication for Consultant Hematologists and Team.
We are looking for someone with previous medical secretarial and administrative experience, preferably in a health care setting. It is essential that you have strong IT skills, a good level of general education, an extensive knowledge of Office and Outlook (including Word, Excel, email and internet) along with audio typing/word processing qualifications/skills.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. It's important that you are flexible, able to act on your own initiative and work both independently and as part of a team. You must be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads as well as being positive and enthusiastic.

Education, Training and Qualifications
* English language and Maths GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills level 2).
* NVQ3 level Secretarial or Business Administrative qualification or equivalent level of demonstrable experience.
* RSA /OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft word)
* NVQ Customer Service L3
Knowledge and Experience
* Audio typing experience
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes.
* Knowledge of NHS Organisations and Medical terminology
* Experience of working within the NHS (in a similar role.)
* Experience of working in a team.
Skills
* Competently communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
* Proficient in use of Microsoft office applications.
* Experienced in planning, organising and prioritising own workload.
