DWF are seeking a Cloud Engineer with on-prem experience to join our team and help us implement and maintain Azure cloud-based solutions for our clients during and once transitioned to the Cloud. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability and security of our on-prem and Azure cloud infrastructure and services. You will also collaborate with other senior engineers, engineers, developers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services that meet our clients' needs and expectations. This role will be part of the Operations squad and report into the Head of Compute & API Services.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will develop, and deploy cloud-based solutions using Azure, with the potential to expand to other platforms such as Google Cloud and AWS in the future. You will be responsible for managing and optimising on-prem and cloud resources to ensure performance and cost-effectiveness while implementing best practices for security, compliance, monitoring, and governance. You'll also play a critical role in supporting the technical aspects of project delivery, ensuring solutions align with design specifications and once deployed, can be supported and maintained by the Operations squad.
Additionally, you will collaborate with and support fellow engineers, particularly within Operations, as needed. You'll contribute to optimising cloud operations and participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, remaining open to working outside regular hours when required for project completion or emergency tasks, and planned maintenance.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential
* Considerable experience with on-premises infrastructure such as Hyper-V, iSCSI SAN Storage, RAID, VMware, and RDS.
* Working knowledge and experience of DNS, DCHP, Group Policy, Windows Server OS & general networking and security knowledge.
* Demonstratable troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Deep knowledge of Azure services including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Azure networking.
* Proficient in PowerShell or Azure Cloud Shell for automation.
* Demonstrable ability to contribute to and deliver solutions based on technical designs.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and testing tools.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
Desirable
* Experience using Azure Monitor, or other well-known monitoring solutions, including integrating with Teams and setting triggers.
* Exposure to other cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and tools like Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and Docker.
* Considerable understanding of cloud architectures, design patterns, and best practices.
* Certifications in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and so on.
* Self-motivated drive for learning the research on technology subjects.
