Area Sales Engineer - Industrial Electrical Control & Automation

On behalf of our client, we have an excellent opportunity for either an experienced field-based Area Sales Engineer with a proven track record as a business developer and excellent salesman in the Electrical Control and Automation industry, or an ambitious electrical engineer or technical sales support person in the industrial electrical space looking to make that first move into an external sales position. You will be provided with induction training and ongoing mentorship to develop your sales success with this first-class business.
The Sales Engineer will be selling a range of high-quality Industrial Automation products, including control gear, switchgear & circuit protection, variable speed drives, sensors, PLC & HMI, and all control system components into the OEM, end-user, system integrator, and panel builder markets across the West Midlands.
You should be located in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, West Bromwich, Solihull, Coventry, or surrounding areas such as Telford, Lichfield, or Tamworth, in order to service the customer base in this territory effectively.
As the successful candidate, you will have sales and technical experience in the Industrial Automation industry coupled with a record of sales success and achievement. A formal qualification is not necessary; however, an Electrical/Electronic qualification to ONC or above would be a plus. You should be able to demonstrate your knowledge and ability to sell, along with some experience in the industrial electrical and control and automation sector. Ideally, you will also have benefited from further career development training to enhance your sales skills.
As is usual, you will be working to achieve defined sales targets and capable of developing a personal plan in order to achieve your objectives through managing and further developing an existing portfolio of accounts while constantly striving to identify new avenues of business. Excellent attributes such as good organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to be an effective team player while enjoying a level of autonomy, are essential, as is capability with Microsoft packages.
