Job summary The appointed candidate is expected to manage all aspects of hand and wrist surgery across the combined sites of the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton (including major trauma) and the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Haywards Heath. The on-call responsibility for this post will include: o 1 in 4 hand trauma weeks on call (Monday to Friday 08.00 - 17.00)o 1 in 8 weekend ward rounds at the RSCH providing oversight of the ward care of major trauma patients in conjunction with major trauma colleagues.o No nights on call. Main duties of the job The post holder will join the team of Orthopaedic Hand Surgeons as well as the wider Orthopaedic and Plastics teams and will be expected to undertake an array of trauma, elective and reconstructive procedures. Elective and trauma hand surgery is undertaken at the Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre (SOTC) in Haywards Heath which is a GIRFT accredited HVLC Hub. The clinical duties of the post include the following: o Running the hand trauma week service 1 week in 4 - Monday - Friday 08.00 - 17.00 each dayo Leading the major trauma ward round at RSCH 1 weekend in 8o Delivering an elective hand and wrist service via clinics, MDTs and operating theatre listso Engaging with research, audit and all other supporting activities necessary to deliver excellent tertiary care.
