About the Role
Reporting to the RX Chief Strategy Officer, the Head of Strategy (global) has responsibility for supporting global strategy formulation and driving execution, and for identifying and delivering attractive growth opportunities (organic and inorganic). This role drives strategic projects, conducts strategic research analysis, acts as a catalyst for innovation and change, encourages long-term customer-first growth across all teams, and advises on strategic, operational, tactical, and business development objectives. This role has direct people management responsibilities (approx. 2 FTEs).
Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning and DeliveryDrive the strategic planning process both with RX Global and RELX, supported by the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), and working closely with key stakeholders.Develop insight into changing customer needs, and competitor developments, to enable strategic recommendation to the ELT (Executive Leadership Team) for RX to maximize growth opportunities.Define key strategic issues and challenges to be addressed and develop recommended strategic solutions and plans to maximize RX Global performance.Maintain a data-driven understanding of the RX global event portfolio and make recommendations to shape the portfolio for sustainable high performance.Maintain an understanding of the events industry and landscape, complementary industries and RX businesses and offering.Manage multiple research / analysis requests and projects concurrently, ensuring RX Global remains abreast of current operating and industry landscapes, and are poised to respond as quickly as needed.
2. Strategic Projects:Deliver strategic projects (including strategic opportunity assessment and implementation efforts) across the RX Global business, and across a wide variety of topics, disciplines and functions, to achieve strong return on investment.Support in the creation and execution of initiatives to create strategies to move into adjacent segments/markets.Support Business Development initiatives with clear data driven insights and recommendations
3. Change and innovation:Develop robust working relationships with stakeholders from across the global organisation, to ensure connectivity to current RX operations and business performance.Enable a culture of innovation, long-term thinking and customer focus, agitating for change and being a positive catalyst for growth.Develop content for in-house strategy meetings, such as Senior Management Meetings
Requirements
4. Demonstrate strategic thought-leadership and intellectual rigour, seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies
5. Ability to tackle complex problems across a wide variety of topics, including those which might be completely new
6. Demonstrate comfort with data and an ability through analysis to identify potential areas of significant business value for a company
7. Demonstrate excellent organizational / project management skills working with multiple groups across geographies and cultures
8. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills (text and presentations), with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
9. Willingness to take risks and bold moves, experiment when tackling new problems, remain curious and open to different perspectives, and learn from both successes and failures
10. Experience leading team members and creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best, and can challenge one another positively to reach the best outcome
11. Ability to support constructive relationships with senior leaders and peers in a complex matrix organization
12. Proven experience in strategy, ideally with both experience in top-tier consulting firm and working within industry
