The Mid-level Backend Engineer (Java) role is an integral part of our Retail technology engineering team, contributing to the development of our self-serve sports betting kiosks and colleague-facing POS systems. What You Will Do: Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers to contribute as a hands-on Java developer, striving for excellence within the team. Assist in integrating applications with necessary systems and services, ensuring clean and user-friendly APIs. Contribute to the design and development of business logic and backend systems for Retail sports book products, including POS and Kiosk functionalities. Participate in the technical software development process, collaborating with engineers, architects, and product managers to deliver agile solutions. Consider non-functional requirements in software development to ensure performance and fault tolerance. Seek opportunities to mentor and support junior engineers in their professional development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric products that are easy to use and customers love. What You Will Need: 4-6 years of progressive experience as a software engineer, preferably within a high growth product tech environment Proficiency in Java and familiarity with the Spring Framework (Springboot, specifically) Experience utilizing AWS (Amazon Web Services) and building/maintaining APIs Experience with OLTP systems, Kafka and NRT messaging would be beneficial Willingness to collaborate and mentor junior team members. Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies. Normal hours of work: You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week: Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:30.
