Job description You will join the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT) and will play a vital role in developing training programmes designed to transform RAF personnel into competent and inspired Ground Engineering technicians at No 4 School of Technical Training (4SofTT). Our Burnham Lecturer roles offer interesting, demanding and rewarding opportunities to shape and nurture the next generation of Technicians and Supervisors, helping to prepare them for demanding operational roles. As a training specialist working within a high performing team, you will be involved in developing and instructing highly skilled RAF technicians, as well as completing training needs assessments, creating a theoretical and practical curriculum. As a Burnham Lecturer you are specifically responsible for; Delivering training in accordance with the training schedule, Defence Policy document and the 4SofTT Training Quality Manual (TQM). The areas of training you will cover, depending on your specialism, will include mechanical science, mathematics, engineering theory, electrical and electronic science. The subjects you will teach form part of a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in engineering. Making preparations before starting an instructional period to ensure that training areas, lesson plans, VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) content and supporting course resources (tools, hand-outs, training aids etc) are in a serviceable condition. Undertaking regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to address developmental goals and maintain currency with the latest Technology Enabled Learning systems available. Making an active contribution to the Continuous Improvement of the School and its outputs, by proactively highlighting potential improvements through the Training Squadron line management chain. Taking responsibility for ensuring that the conduct, punctuality, discipline, dress standards and safety of all students meet the required standards. Ensuring s tudent and course documentation/administration is completed in line with the TQM. Ensuring compliance with responsibilities to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) and engaging with the Learning Support Coordinator as required. Undertaking additional lessons with the trainees, either as Additional Trade Training or Extra Trade Training in line with the TQM. Remaining current in Instructional Techniques (IT), and personally arranging for IT and lesson Content Monitoring (CM) observations to be undertaken by Learning Support staff within the school. Assisting the Examinations Manager to review any examination questions that are not valid and highlighting any discrepancies where evident.
