Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: Near Millom, Cumbria
Salary: up to £24,500
Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join a science and technology organisation that operates in the defence industry. The company works across multiple domains including defence (Land, Air, Maritime), Cyber, and Intelligence on a variety of exciting projects.
You will be delivering specialist grounds services; identifying and ensuring all key assets are available and appropriately maintained, making recommendations on improvements, overseeing attention to pest and tree hazards, looking into other requirements in regard to facilities management, and taking on new business leads, as appropriate. You will ensure accurate data administrations are timely and effectively analysed and actioned, and will support stakeholder meetings, technical steering groups, workshops, and communities of practice.
You will be working on our base near Millom in Cumbria and will have the opportunity to learn new skills and develop into an array of different areas across maintenance and FM.
Main Responsibilities
1. Maintain knowledge and awareness of grounds and land legislative, standards, and technical requirements as well as developments.
2. Oversee the monitoring, implementation, and performance of tasks allocated to the conduct of contractors on site.
3. Prioritise work programmes to satisfy company needs and requirements.
4. Oversee safe deployment and management of cleaning materials, tools, substances, areas, and equipment; ensuring correct signage is applied and storage is utilised as necessary.
5. Maintain robust application of health, safety, and environmental processes and procedures.
6. Ensure maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level.
7. Cleaning of conference rooms, offices, laboratories, workshops, accommodation, kitchens, toilets, showers, and other general areas across site.
Key Skills & Experience
The following areas of experience would be desirable but not essential:
1. Wide understanding of health and safety knowledge and/or experience as well as maintenance support.
2. Full driving licence.
3. Ability to work proactively and solve problems.
4. Ability to safely deploy processes and work with a range of equipment.
5. Manual handling awareness/risk appreciation.
