General Manager - Specialist Medicine
1 full time permanent position
1 full time secondment opportunity (up to 12 months)
Conquest Hospital based - Cross-site when required
We are looking for a motivated, experienced, proactive and patient-centred individual for the role of General Manager - Specialist Medicine Division at East Sussex Healthcare.
You will support the delivery of high-quality care, as well as leading the implementation of service improvement projects alongside development of further service improvement, working closely with the Clinical Leads and Head of Nursing, whilst supporting the service managers within each service.
It is important that the General Manager is able to work autonomously and use their own initiative to solve problems. With a busy and varied workload, it is key that the post-holder is able to prioritise work where there are competing demands, whilst also leading their team to do the same. Building strong working relationships across the multi-disciplinary and divisional team is important and we are looking for a person who understands the challenges other members of staff face, working with them to achieve the Division's overall objectives.
Main duties of the job
The General Manager will work alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues to deliver the Specialist Medicine Division's operational and strategic priorities, line managed by the Divisional Director of Operations for Medicine. This includes working with colleagues within the service, the division as well as with stakeholders outside the division to improve patient flow and pathways.
Be responsible for implementation of strategies and systems that have been devised to achieve specific Trust and national performance targets. Ensure robust business planning and risk management processes are applied to all service performance.
Liaise with CCGs and other key stakeholders to ensure appropriate referral pathways are in place and that activity and income is maximised from the local and wider geographical areas.
We can promise you a challenging and diverse role that will both stretch and develop you, and your professional development will be strongly encouraged and supported. We expect all our staff to share the values that are important to the trust - being excellent, kind, responsible and respectful - and behave in a way that reflects these.
You will be responsible for line managing the service managers within medicine, as well as medical administrators.
