Coronary Care Unit/Cath Lab Clinical Support Worker - EDGH
CCU is a busy 11 bedded Unit nursing Elective and Emergency admissions. In addition, the role will include rotation into the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories. The team is both friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to providing a high standard of care.
We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers; hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths, Care Certificate, and/or NVQ2 in health and social care or the equivalent qualification is required. Your role will be to provide delegated clinical procedures such as removal of cannula, undertake physiological observations, escort patients from clinical areas, provide personal care and accurately document all interventions. Successful applicants will be required to complete an Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory training to join our team. You will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.
You must be able to work as part of a team, use your own initiative with effective interpersonal and communication skills, contributing fully as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship, and clinical supervision on the unit and are committed to the professional development of all staff.
Main duties of the job
1. Supporting patients with bathing, toileting, dressing and meals
2. A range of delegated clinical care duties
3. Undertakes and records patients' vital signs
4. Escalate any concerns in observation or change in patient's condition
5. Support and supervision of Band 2 clinical support workers
6. Enhanced observations

Person Specification
* GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths
* Care Certificate
* Relevant experience of working in Health or Social Care Environment delivering personal care
* Ability to undertake vital observations and recognise any concerns that require escalation to a registered professional
* Digital Skills, use of systems and ability to use physiological recording equipment and record findings
* Education and training to NVQ level 3/Work based diploma or equivalent
* Training and competence in clinical tasks relevant to role ie. Cannulation, wound care, ECG
