We are looking for a Senior Waste Consultant to deliver innovative client solutions that foster the circular economy in the built environment.
Buro Happold's Waste Operations, Logistics and Flow team advise on policy, waste and goods generation forecasting, goods delivery/flows, waste collection, storage and treatment systems. Originally from a diverse range of backgrounds such as environmental studies, engineering and operations, the team has now worked on the design of over 260 buildings and cities in 40 different countries. A typical day includes optimising architectural designs to make the segregation, storage and movement of goods and waste materials the most efficient, resilient and environmentally positive as possible.
We are looking for a new team member to join us in one of our central city offices. The role of Senior Waste Consultant will include working with the team to develop waste and logistics strategies, producing waste generation calculations, back of house route planning, selection of waste and goods storage and transport methods and waste treatment options. Working closely with our colleagues in teams such as Transport and Mobility, Infrastructure and Sustainability to lead a range of built environment projects from sport venues, museums to entire new cities.

We are looking for candidates to demonstrate the following:
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with architects and engineering design teams to develop waste and logistics strategies for buildings and cities.
2. Calculate waste and goods generation forecasting.
3. Review and ensure compliance to national and local policies and best practice.
4. Appraise and recommend solutions for the storage and transportation of goods and waste.
5. Spatial planning of waste and goods facilities to building and city scales, in coordination with architects.
6. Explore innovative technologies and solutions for waste and goods management.
7. Technical report writing and bid preparation.
8. Mentoring junior members of the team.
9. Leading and managing select projects both technically and commercially.
10. Support on the development and improvement of team processes and workload.
Qualifications:
1. Academic background in waste management, engineering, logistics, or environmental science.
2. Experience in waste management or related fields.
3. Passion for circular economy.
