The post holder will work as a senior member of the team providing support and advice alongside effective leadership to a specified clinical team. This will be achieved by ensuring the provision of high quality safe and effective care.
Deliver high quality care to children and young people presenting with a wide variety of undifferentiated conditions. This will include comprehensive assessment, interpretation of investigations, provision of treatment and decision making about ongoing care
To monitor clinical outcomes and patient experience
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment and interventions and care for children and young people presenting with a number of diagnosis.
2. Utilise highly effective communication skills to ensure children, young people and their families are fully informed and consent to treatment
3. Recognise and work within own competence and professional code as regulated by the NMC
4. To be a highly visible presence, acting as a role model
5. To work within multi-agency and multi-disciplinary teams in order to ensure children and people’s needs are met
6. Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping in line with local and National guidance.
7. To develop own learning and contribute to the development and innovation of the service.
8. Review training and development of all staff, so all staff have a personal development plan and to support staff in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process.

Within CYPED all paediatric patients are assessed and those requiring admission are transferred to the inpatient ward for continuing care. Patients are admitted under many specialties including medical, orthopaedic and surgical and no two days are ever the same. We are a level 1 unit however we do at times have level 2 patients who require High flow Humidified Oxygen and on occasions CPAP and 1-1 care.
Our team consists of Team Leads, Nurses, Heath Care Assistants, Hospital Play Specialists and Nursery Nurses who are motivated and passionate to ensure all care we deliver is Patient and Family centred, high quality and compassionate. You will see Multi-Disciplinary Team working at its best within our unit as we involve all allied health professionals to ensure the child receives the most appropriate care. We provide 24/7 care and work 11.5 hour shifts.
