Job summary The post-holder will be expected to attend morning board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings run from their base ward. He/she will be expected to help organize and support the junior staff in the day-to-day running of the ward, ensure discharge summaries are appropriately completed by junior staff, and help coordinate discharge planning. There are occasionally medical outliers on other wards that will need to be managed by the ward teams and shared care of patients on critical care. When present on the ward the post holder will provide support to the whole ward as required for seriously ill patients and emergencies. Each day starts with all patients review with Consultant prioritising sick patient and early discharges followed by Morning board round with Nursing and allied teams. Main duties of the job The management of inpatient stay is one of the trust's key performance areas. As well as managing attendances in collaboration with acute medicine and Emergency Care, we are also closely associated with innovative and collaborative Intermediate Care schemes such as the Home based rehabilitation team and Bed Based rehabilitation team. A team of Discharge coordinators, responsible for the management of complex discharges across the Hospital, also works from within the PRUH. The team is also closely associated with the Medical School and regards the inter- relationship between clinical services and research and development as a key component in delivering high quality patient-centred services. About us He/she will also be expected to help deliver teaching and training to more junior colleagues including MRCP PACES teaching.
