Job summary Are you passionate about delivery best care in Colorectal Cancer. This role incorporates both assessment and triage of potential colorectal cancer patients in the urgent suspected setting. This will mean working both autonomously and within the team setting. An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Macmillan Colorectal Cancer Team sitting within the Colorectal Early Diagnosis Team. The successful candidate will provide specialist advice, use infloflex systems. Completing specialist assessment to determine straight to test models of care. Applicants ideally will have colorectal cancer experience and excellent communication. They will also need to be able to manage their own workload alongside being a good team player. Main duties of the job This role clinically assesses Lower GI urgent suspected cancer referrals from internal and external sources, triaging patients through a straight to test model of care to support the 28 day faster diagnosis standard of care. This involves informational support respecting at all times patients' diverse cultural back grounds, with courtesy, dignity and privacy. The post holder will be expected to liaise and effectively communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team and allied health care professionals to provide co-ordinated high-quality patient-centred care. The post holder will act autonomously applying your specialist expertise to all facets of care of patients with Lower GI conditions through implementation of a nurse-led clinic. It is essential to keep abreast of new research findings and apply innovatively to patient care, disseminating findings to allied healthcare professionals, striving at all times to give evidence-based care. To act as a professional advisor to nursing & medical staff and allied health professionals in the Trust and in the community incorporating specialist counselling and health promotion.
