The role
We are currently looking to appoint a Cleaning Operative to carry out cleaning duties within council offices. Working within a cleaning team and under the instruction of the Facilities and Safety Manager, to maintain all areas in a clean, tidy and health condition.
Duties and responsibilities
- Clean and polish as required desks, radiators, carpets, pipes, chairs, telephones and all furniture, fittings and appropriate equipment, doors, floors, walls, glass (to normal reach height from floor only) etc.
- Clean to a high standard, toilets, kitchens, meeting rooms, reception areas, offices and all allocated areas.
- Empty waste bins and other designated receptacles.
- Open and lock office after evening meetings by outside bodies and to assist with washing up, tidying away as necessary.
- Ensure on the conclusion of the cleaning shift that the premises are left secure by locking, if necessary, doors and windows, switch lights off and engage security alarms where required.
- Work mainly at Futures Park, Bacup; however, you may be required to provide cover at other sites as necessary.
- Work as part of the Facilities Management team and undertake duties commensurate with the grade as required.
- Undertake such other tasks and duties of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the line manager following consultation with the postholder.
Person Specification
- Experience of cleaning in a commercial environment desirable
- Experience of operating security systems desirable (training will be provided as necessary).
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
- Ability to work successfully and flexibly as part of a team
- Ability to receive and follow instructions
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate the council’s values and behaviours
- Reliable and conscientious
- Commitment to developing and maintaining high levels of customer care
