Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Mid-Market Property & Casualty Underwriter to join their growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with expertise in assessing and underwriting commercial property and casualty risks for mid-sized businesses. Your ability to deliver balanced underwriting decisions and build strong relationships with clients and brokers will contribute to achieving their business goals while maintaining underwriting excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate new business applications, renewals, and policy amendments for mid-market property and casualty risks in line with company underwriting guidelines.
* Analyse complex risk profiles and assess exposures to determine appropriate pricing, terms, and coverage.
* Collaborate with brokers and agents to develop and offer competitive and customized insurance solutions.
* Maintain profitability by balancing risk acceptance with adherence to underwriting standards.
* Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to adapt strategies as needed.
* Provide exceptional service to brokers and clients, ensuring clear communication and efficient processes.
* Support continuous improvement efforts by contributing to the development of underwriting tools, guidelines, and processes.
* Contribute to achieving team targets and profitability goals through effective portfolio management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in property and casualty underwriting, specifically within the mid-market segment.
* Strong knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance products, pricing models, and market practices.
* Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex risk exposures.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build strong broker and client relationships.
* Proficiency in insurance software and data analysis tools to support informed decision-making.
* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
* Industry certifications such as ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or equivalent are highly desirable.
