What you will do in your working day
Working within the Primary section, you will be responsible for the production of high quality components via the operation of plasma and oxy fuel cutting machines and also a range of shotblast machines.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and utilising Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and be capable of producing parts to meet customer quality demands.
Responsibilities
* Identify specifications of the requirements through successful understanding of the engineering drawings and working instructions
* Prepare and load raw materials and parts by hand or through use of overhead cranes, safely and as per standard procedures
* Correctly operate machines to produce components for production to required quality standards
* Production of first-off sample, prepared for initial inspection
* Light and heavy duty grinding/dressing functions
* Inspect and measure finished products, ensuring that the component quality requirements are met
* Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
* Assist in work centre housekeeping and any 5s activities
* To read, understand and complete programme sheets
The training you will be getting
* Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship Standard
* Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)
* Maths and English Functional Skills if required - if not required, Maths and English upskill will still be provided but you do not need to sit an exam
* Preparation for End Point Assessment
* Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date
