About The Role The Lanes Group are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Successful applicants will ensure all commercial aspects of the contract under their remit are properly managed, contractual obligations are maintained and that our internal financial and performance reporting is consistent and accurate. With a particular focus on payment applications, P&L reporting and debt control, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor is also responsible for promoting best practice within the Commercial Team to support the wider business, and to enable the Operational Teams to deliver a high level of customer service excellence and operational performance. Location: Stafford Hours: Monday to Friday – 37.5 Hours per week. Salary: £34,000 Responsibilities – But Not Limited To Ensuring there are rigorous controls in place for cash control, value optimisation and debt / WIP management. Administration and management of subcontract work packages including the assessment of monthly applications for payment, final account negotiation, and utilising contractual knowledge to ensure we are maximising our entitlements. Weekly P&L and month end reporting, including communication with the finance team and other major stakeholders. WIP management and reduction. Helping the wider team with the Purchase Order process. Effectively creating and maintaining relationships with the client and wider supply chain. Supporting the Commercial team to ensure compliance with the Lanes systems, processes and procedures. Driving continuous improvement in line with H&S legislation and budgets. Promoting a culture of engagement and motivation within the team. Experience And Qualifications Required For The Role At least 2 years’ experience within a similar role, preferably within the Utilities industry. An understanding of standard forms of contract, in particular NEC. Educated to relevant Degree level, or equivalent experience. Proficiency of Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel. Full UK driver’s license.
