We are looking for dedicated Support Workers to join a highly respected provider supporting young people in care. This organisation is trusted by local authorities and has an outstanding success rate in helping young people transition into independent living. You will be working in their Trauma Informed Residential Home.
About the Role:
As a Senior Support Worker, you will provide essential guidance and support to young people living in care and support care staff on shift. You will be working in their home, a safe place for young people who’ve experienced significant trauma. Some of the young people you work with may be at risk of exploitation, struggle with substance use, or display challenging behaviour. Many will present with complex emotional challenges, and you will be expected to support these young people through their highs and, most importantly, their lows – no matter how they present.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Building trusting relationships with young people and acting as a positive role model.
2. Helping young people to develop life skills, confidence, and independence.
3. Managing challenging situations with empathy, patience, and de-escalation techniques.
4. Ensuring a safe and structured environment in line with safeguarding regulations.
5. Working on a 1 day followed by 2 days off - This includes regular sleep-ins (£40 per sleep-in).
6. Supporting less senior staff on shift with decision making, guidance, and working with management to implement training and development.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Experience in children’s residential care is essential and you must hold your Level 3 in CYP.
2. Clear demonstration of leadership experience.
3. Strong communication, de-escalation, and behaviour management skills.
4. A fundamental understanding of safeguarding procedures and their importance.
5. A full UK driving licence is essential.
6. The resilience, empathy, and commitment to supporting young people through complex emotional and behavioural challenges.
