Assistant Waste Manager - Braintree District Council

Salary: £39,868 to £44,086 per annum

Braintree District Council is looking for an Assistant Waste Manager to join our Operations team.
The Role:
As an Assistant Waste Manager, you will manage the daily operations of the Council's Waste Services, including refuse, recycling, commercial waste, and the Waste Transfer Station. You will ensure compliance with statutory legislation and national and local policies.
Accountabilities:
* Ensure the Waste Service is operated in compliance with statutory legislation and policies.
* Assist the Waste Services Manager in operational delivery and performance management.
* Lead on Sickness Absence Management and Health and Safety compliance.
* Manage and supervise waste teams, ensuring a customer-focused service.
* Monitor sickness absence and conduct investigations as necessary.
* Contribute to financial management of the Waste Services' budgets.
* Establish effective communication mechanisms within Operations.
* Act as the customer interface for service-related requests and complaints.
* Manage external contractors for service delivery.
* Coordinate resources for emergency works outside normal hours.
The Experience You Will Bring:
You will have significant experience managing operational teams and delivering waste management services. Qualifications such as ILM Level 3 and COTC qualification are preferred.
