About the role
Chestnut House is a residential children’s home working with young people who are disabled. Located in Weymouth, Dorset, it can provide care for up to three young people.
As a registered manager for Chestnut House, you will provide on-the-ground support and drive change by finding solutions, building sustainable and meaningful relationships, and supporting young people in developing strong independence skills.
You will provide clear management and leadership direction using evidence-based models, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). You will be responsible for the management of the residential children’s home and lead the team in working with young people who may have complex communication needs and may communicate through behaviours.
You will improve work with families and communities to safely reduce the number of children entering care. You will collaborate with partner agencies to enhance social work practice and decision-making to ensure the best choices are made for every child, thereby improving their lives.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and motivated children’s home registered manager who is ready to develop this service. You will lead from the front to generate a change in culture, systems, relationships, practice, and ways of working together, while making a real difference to the lives of children, young people, and families.
You must have a minimum of 2 years residential care experience within the last 5 years, as well as prior experience in a senior worker or management role within the previous two years. You must have sound knowledge of the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards, along with a workable knowledge of the Ofsted Inspection Framework. It is desirable that the candidate has a Level 5 in leadership and management (or is working towards the qualification) or a social worker qualification.
You will be a kind and caring person with a passion for improving lives, an aspirational attitude, and a resilient and flexible approach.
As an inspirational leader, you will be passionate about improving the lives of Dorset children and creating opportunities for them to thrive.
