We are looking for enthusiastic, positive, driven and reliable individuals to support the Centre Supervisors in the efficient and effective delivery of day-to-day operations and services provided at Cardiff University Sports facilities. You will be the first line point of contact for facility users, meeting and greeting members, answering enquiries, processing memberships and ensuring a welcoming environment. You will also ensure that all areas of the facility and equipment are prepared and ready for sessions as determined by the booking and event schedule and will monitor standards and compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Fixed Term until 5 January 2027, part time post, available immediately - 21 hours per week, Wednesday - Friday 6.30am - 2.30pm, including 1 hour unpaid break.
Starting salary: £22,728 per annum pro rata (£12.45 per hour) with annual increment point up £23,114 - Grade 2).
This is a campus-based role.

Job Description
MAIN DUTIES
* To work as part of a team, jointly supporting all aspects of sport facility operation providing a high-quality customer service to all users.
* To provide exceptional customer service, dealing with all customer enquiries/feedback both face to face, over the telephone, via email and social media platforms following guidelines and using own judgement and initiative as required.
* To deal with both simple and more complex enquiries from internal and external customers in a professional manner, following established procedures, referring complex enquiries to relevant staff members, ensuring all relevant facts and information needed is recorded and passed on.
* To establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels.
* To undertake a variety of routine administrative duties to support the team and department.
* To take an active role in the team supporting team objectives and other team members, contributing to the training of new team members whilst maintaining personal development.
* To provide a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors, ensuring day-to-day presentation of sports facilities.
* To ensure that appropriate and quality sports equipment is available for use, hire or purchase.
* To promote and provide accurate, informed, and up-to-date details of Cardiff University Sport membership schemes, products and services.
* To operate the reception tills and associated computerised leisure membership & booking system, following the financial procedures in place.
* To periodically inspect facilities to carry out daily checks, including authorised use, and performing other associated duties requested by supervisors or the management team.
* To ensure that the daily cleaning, maintenance, and safety checks are carried out to departmental guidelines and report any related issues.
* To act as qualified first aider for the sport facilities.
* To be available to support all areas of the Cardiff University Sport in offering Sport & Wellbeing opportunities to the university community.
* To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate.
* To abide by university policies on Health and Safety.
* You may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above but which will be consistent with the role.
The role will require a flexible approach to working hours and is 5 days out of 7. This includes evenings and weekends, precise hours being determined by the Line Manager to ensure the needs of the service are met, which may include University closure periods.

Essential Criteria
* Basic Numeracy and Literacy (for example NVQ 1/GCSE level D-G or equivalent vocational qualifications).
* Experience of working in a customer service environment, preferably sport/leisure related.
* Experience of using IT software packages (e.g. MS Office) and social media platforms (e.g. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook).
* Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a professional manner.
* Proven high standard of organisational and general administrative skills.
* Ability to work as an effective team member.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established time scales.
* An understanding of health and safety requirements, ideally with reference to the leisure industry.
* Ability to identify problems using own initiative, determining which standard process and procedures can be used to solve them.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Level 2 gym instructor qualification or equivalent.
* Fluency in Welsh, written and oral, or willingness to learn.
* Experience of working in a Higher Education environment.
* First Aid (including AED) qualification (training will be provided if valid qualification not already held).
* A willingness to undertake further training and development.

CAMPUS SERVICES INFORMATION
Campus Services provides a range of professional support services to students, staff and visitors at Cardiff University.
Residences manages accommodation places for approximately 5,500 students, both catered and self-catered.
In terms of catering, there are cafés and restaurants conveniently located across university campuses, in addition to a delivered hospitality service.
Cardiff University Sport exists to provide students and staff with a balanced, high quality and integrated sport service which meets the needs of a broad range of users.
The Nursery offers facilities for children aged between 10 weeks and 5 years and is divided into sections appropriate to the ages and development of the children.
Both residential and catering facilities are utilised for conferences and functions during the University’s vacation periods. A purpose built and designed conference centre and conference facility is also available throughout the year.
The Campus Services operation is supported by its own central administration functions covering the allocation of residences, human resource and quality, purchasing, facilities, finance, and general administration.
