This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 20 February 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 27 February 2025.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Dialysis Aide will provide excellent support to Lakeridge Health inpatients and outpatients from the community who require hemodialysis services and treatment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Cleaning and disinfecting of hemodialysis machines and reverse osmosis machines;
2. Cleaning and disinfecting the patient environment;
3. Preparing and dismantling dialysis machines and disposing of equipment;
4. Maintaining and restocking supply bins;
5. Transporting specimens and blood products;
6. Providing patient transportation to other units;
7. Assisting the Nursing team to hold access sites;
8. Assisting in moving of equipment;
9. Assisting with quality assurance testing of equipment, priming machines;
10. Disinfecting machines in isolation and procedure rooms;
11. Transporting and setting up equipment at off unit locations;
12. Responsible for inventory of all off unit connectors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Grade 12 education;
2. Current Dialysis attendant/assistant certificate from a recognized college or equivalent or experience working as a Dialysis Aide;
3. Basic Computer skills;
4. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills;
5. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
6. Ability to prepare and dismantle hemodialysis machines/equipment;
7. Ability to transport hemodialysis machines/equipment inter and intra-departmentally;
8. Ability to organize and prioritize workload while functioning independently with minimum supervision;
9. Ability to work productively and independently in a demanding setting with distractions and interruptions;
10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
11. Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills;
12. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy;
13. Ability to act appropriately and effectively in an emergency situation;
14. Ability to perform sequential tasks requiring manual dexterity, speed and hand-eye coordination;
15. Satisfactory performance record;
16. Understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices;

18. Willingness to travel from site to site and assume on-call rotation.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
