About the Role:
Are you an experienced midwife passionate about supporting the next generation of midwives? Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is looking for a dedicated Midwife Educator to coordinate and deliver clinical education and assessment for students undertaking the BHSc (Midwifery) programme in partnership with the Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
This role is crucial in ensuring students receive high-quality learning experiences, including clinical placements, tutorials, and hands-on supervision. You will also provide support to midwives involved in teaching, ensuring fair and consistent student assessment processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and deliver clinical teaching and learning experiences for midwifery students.
* Support students’ professional development in clinical practice settings.
* Facilitate clinical skills training and scenario-based learning.
* Provide mentorship and feedback to students and midwives.
* Work collaboratively with AUT, midwifery managers, and clinicians to optimize clinical placements.
* Contribute to curriculum development and ensure clinical education aligns with best practices.
* Promote health equity and support the recruitment and retention of Māori, Pacific, and Asian health professionals.
About You:
* NZ Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
* 5+ years recent clinical experience in a secondary/tertiary birthing facility.
* Understanding of NZ Health Legislation, including MoH service specifications and MoH referral guidelines.
* Strong communication and relationship skills.
