(3de11) To provide support for a 10-year-old male child with Autism who is non-verbal and communicates by using noises and gestures and PECS pictures.
Main Duties
We are looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for this child to enable him to access social and leisure activities in the local community. He is a happy child who loves walking, play parks, visiting cafes, the beach, making things indoors and out, playing on computers, trains, loves math’s sums and watching people do DIY activities. He has no danger awareness and will need constant close supervision to keep him safe.
You will be required to support the child to receive nutritional needs via a PEG, for which full training will be provided. Hours
5 hours per week during term time weeks for four Saturdays per month. Then 10 hours per week during all school holiday weeks. Flexibility on which days the support takes place during the school holiday weeks.
Rate of pay
£13.09 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
Any out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer.
Person Specification
The successful applicant must:
· Have experience and a positive understanding about children who have disabilities
· Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
· Have a high degree of initiative
· Be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised.
· Be flexible
· Have a happy, positive and caring nature
· Respect confidentiality
Full, clean driving licence required and must be insured for business use.
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer. Services
