Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our nursing team within the Disablement Service Centre (DSC).
The DSC is an outpatient area that provides a range of manual & powered wheelchairs, accessories, and special seating to patients with long-term mobility needs within the South Tees & Redcar area and provides/maintains artificial upper & lower limbs to patients with amputation or congenital limb loss with the sub-regional area covering Tees, Durham, and North Yorkshire.
Please note if you do not have the qualifications or experience marked as essential for a Band 3 role, you will be appointed at a Band 2.
Band 2 requirements: willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a Band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements: Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/4-9), Care certificate, or short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties.
There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a Band 2 to Band 3, which includes completion of the qualifications.
Main Duties of the Job
You will be able to follow instructions, work accurately and methodically, work as part of a team, but also be able to use your initiative.
The role will require you to ensure that daily cleaning is performed, stores and equipment are tidied away, and that the patient areas are damp dusted after use in line with infection control measures.
This job also includes basic reception duties; training will be provided.
Provide and receive basic routine information to/from patients, occasionally of a sensitive nature in relation to attendances, correspondence, and associated Trust Processes, Policies, and Procedures.
Be actively involved in the prevention of hospital-acquired infections by adhering to policies relating to infection prevention and control.
Assist in the preparation of patients for transfers to other wards/hospitals.
Perform necessary patient observations/treatments, as directed by the supervising Nurse/Clinician.
Prepare patients for examination by the Clinician and act as chaperone where necessary.
Perform designated patient care activities while working under supervision and assist Registered staff in the provision of a high standard of personal patient care and associated duties to all patients considering their individual needs.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills - B2/3
* Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective teamwork.
* Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality.
* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
* Working knowledge of STHFT policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Training B3
