Currently have a school in Croydon that are looking for dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisors to join our supportive team. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students in the absence of their regular class teacher, ensuring that lessons are carried out effectively and that students maintain a positive and productive learning environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are looking to support the educational development of students while gaining valuable classroom experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise students in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring they stay on task and engage with pre-set lesson plans and materials.
* Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom, promoting positive behavior and ensuring a safe learning environment.
* Provide feedback to students on their work and offer assistance where appropriate.
* Assist with administrative tasks such as distributing learning resources or marking simple work.
* Liaise with teaching staff, including relaying any key issues or concerns related to student behavior or progress.
* Follow the school’s behavior management policies and work with students to resolve any conflicts or disruptions.
* Support students with SEN (Special Educational Needs) as necessary.
* Ensure that students are fully engaged in learning activities and that they make the most of their lesson time.
* Assist in the development of classroom resources and support a variety of subjects as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
* A good standard of education, including GCSEs or equivalent (preferably including English and Maths).
* Experience of working with young people, ideally in an educational setting (though training and support will be provided for those with limited experience).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a focused and respectful learning environment.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subject areas.
* A proactive and positive attitude with a strong desire to help students succeed.
Desirable:
* Previous experience working in schools or with children.
* A background in education or a teaching-related qualification (e.g., TA qualification, degree, or related subject).
* An interest in pursuing a career in education
