PCV/HGV Fitter/Technician/Mechanic
Location: Stagecoach Basingstoke, Rankine Road, Basingstoke RG24 8PH
Salary: Circa £44k per annum - working shifts five days in seven. 40hr week. Some weekend work.
Would you love to be part of a professional Engineering Team that maintains and repairs a modern and varied fleet of vehicles? How about developing your own technical skills on future hybrid and electric vehicles while mentoring our keen-to-learn apprentices to pass on your existing knowledge?
Stagecoach South operates 500 vehicles over eight sites, and our Basingstoke team is looking for people from a background in vehicle mechanical engineering. You may be in a truck/HGV, rail, light commercial, or automotive setting at the moment but fancy a change of vehicle to enhance your skill set.
Our Basingstoke depot operates a varied range of vehicles from minibuses up to double deck buses daily. We operate Alexander Dennis, Scania, Volvo, and Optare vehicles, and we invest millions in new buses, so you'll have some state-of-the-art machines to work on!
As part of our Engineering Team, you'll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in top condition to transport our fantastic customers across Hampshire every year. It's a really important role within our Depot, so we'll make sure you're as looked after as our vehicles are!
Don't worry if you've not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) - we'll train you on everything you need to know, and you'll be supported by a great team of fellow Mechanics, Electricians, Technicians, and Engineering Managers.
Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there's plenty more we can offer:
1. Job Security: We've been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn, and we're not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon!
2. Safe Environment: We provide boots, overalls, and specialist equipment.
3. Free Travel: For you and your companion on our buses.
4. Great Income & Benefits: Competitive rates of pay, plus a good pension scheme.
5. Promotions: If you want to progress, we'll support you every step of the way.
So, if you have an engineering background with a vehicular slant (truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm - if it moves, it's good experience for working on our buses) and have a passion for great work with a great team, then we can't wait to receive your application!
Stagecoach workplace culture is one where everyone can be themselves and where all the differences our people bring to the business are celebrated. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of background, gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, or age.
