The Bank Radiographic Department Assistant (RDA) works in the CT Department undertaking various roles. Their main duties are:
The main duties of the role involve:
· To assist the radiographers to achieve a smooth and high throughput of patients through the scanners.
· Liaise with ward staff and porters ensuring patients are collected and returned to wards in an
efficient and timely manner. Be able to use MyPorter to schedule patients.
· Perform manual handling duties, moving beds, chairs and helping patients on and off the scan bed.
· Answer the telephone, obtain Patient ID, location and relevant condition related information and
pass details to Radiographers.
· Explain procedures to patients and relatives. Empathy will be required as some patients may be anxious, distressed and in pain
· Ensure scan rooms are clean and prepared for examinations, accessory equipment is available and stock levels are maintained.
· Observe the patient and ensure safety and dignity throughout the examination. Assist patients with vomit bowls, bedpans and bottles when required
You will be working closely with Radiographers and other hospital staff. A basic knowledge of nursing, or experience in a caring profession, would be an advantage but full training will be provided.

It consists of a team of radiographers and radiography assistants who deliver a high standard of patient care while undertaking a high throughput of CT examinations.
The RDA role is to assist the radiographers and thereby achieve a smooth and high throughput of patients through the x-ray rooms.
