The Vacancy
Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity
We're investing in our Network capabilities and have a new opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join us at an exciting time in our evolution. You'll be part of our wider Technology teams and play a key role in supporting the design, maintenance, and security of our network infrastructure to ensure a seamless, secure, and resilient banking environment.
You'll work closely with senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience with LAN, WAN, VPN, and data centre networks, troubleshoot issues, day to day operations, support network expansions, and maintain network security standards.
Please note this role will provide out of hours support on a rota basis (on-call allowance provided) which is typically one week per month.
What will your day look like?
1. Assist in the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
2. Support network operations by troubleshooting connectivity issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring optimal network performance.
3. Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT staff to develop a deeper understanding of network architecture, security best practices, and troubleshooting methods.
4. Collaborate with cybersecurity, risk and governance teams to establish and maintain robust security protocols to safeguard network assets and sensitive banking data.
5. Lead incident response efforts for network-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal business impact. Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
6. Contribute to networks project activity; coordinating with cross-functional teams and PMO to deliver on time, within scope, and on budget.
7. You'll be empowered to provide input on technology investments and have the opportunity to be involved in greenfield developments that will shape our network strategy for the next 5 years.
What do we expect from you?
1. Experience with multiple network vendors and technologies (e.g., Cisco, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Load Balancers, Meraki, ISE, ZScaler OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QoS, VXLAN, EVPN).
2. Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt and embrace new technologies.
3. Good understanding of security protocols and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, CIS, NIST).
4. Experience in Network Automation- Python, Ansible, Nornir, Netmiko.
5. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or similar are highly desirable.
What can you expect from us?
1. A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
2. A growing organisation that means there's lots of opportunities to progress.
3. A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
4. And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential.

The Company
We champion equality by supporting the exceptions to the rule and getting finance to where it's needed.
We lend the money people save with us, to people who want to get on in life; build businesses and create employment, buy property for people to live and work in, and purchase vehicles to move families and goods around.
Behaviour Framework
Our behavioural framework underpins our purpose and strategic drivers, as it outlines the behaviours we need to demonstrate in order to succeed. Where our strategic drivers (Stay Ahead Propositions, Relationships That Last and Progressive Platform) outline what we need to do to succeed, our behaviours guide us in how. In your second interview, we'll ask you to talk through some examples where you've demonstrated these behaviours in your previous roles.
