Our client is a well-established local business based in Uttoxeter, seeking to expand their finance team with the addition of a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving company on a permanent basis.
THE ROLE
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will be an integral part of a medium-sized finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Handling all incoming calls and efficiently resolving supplier queries.
2. Inputting and approving stock invoices, ensuring they match relevant purchase orders and goods receipts.
3. Collaborating with the Goods In Department, Buying Team, and Suppliers to resolve any discrepancies.
4. Processing service invoices, ensuring correct approval, and allocating costs to the appropriate General Ledger Code.
5. Reviewing supplier statements and addressing any issues promptly.
6. Posting all outgoing payments made via the bank and ensuring payment runs are completed in line with supplier terms.
7. Inputting payments into the bank for approval by the Finance Manager.
8. Managing ad hoc duties such as filing supplier invoices, analysing and approving credit card expenses, and ensuring correct VAT claims.
9. Providing absence cover for the Credit Controller when required.
REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. A solid understanding of the Accounts Payable function.
2. The ability to work effectively within a team.
3. Experience managing a high volume of invoices in a fast-paced environment.
4. A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
5. Strong communication skills, with confidence in dealing with suppliers.
6. Previous experience in an end-to-end Purchase Ledger role.
7. Knowledge of SAP (advantageous but not essential).
