About the Service
Burton Park is a 50 bedded neurobehavioural locked rehabilitation hospital for patients with acquired brain injury and neuro-progressive conditions. The multi-disciplinary team includes psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, social workers and medical professionals. Burton Park is a member of the Independent Neurorehabilitation Providers Alliance (INPA).
Job Advert Role Description
Are you a Registered General or Registered Mental Health Nurse looking for a new challenge? Or are you a Newly Qualified Nurse ready for the first step in your career?
As a Nurse you will be working within a transdisciplinary team that includes a range of professionals.
1. Contributing to pre-admission assessment of referred patient
2. Contributing to the comprehensive assessment of a patient on admission.
3. Compiling a holistic plan of care in partnership with the individual.
4. Compiling a positive risk management plan.
5. Monitoring and reviewing individualised patient plans, within an evidence based framework.
6. Prioritising, organising, and deploying under direction, resources to meet the requirements of the ward for the duration of a shift.
7. Committing to the promotion of basic living skills within a Rehabilitation Setting.
8. Contributing to the delivery of evidence based therapeutic interventions as agreed by the transdisciplinary team.
9. Managing medication as per hospital policy.
10. Adhering at all times to the NMC code of professional conduct.
11. Ensuring that you are up to date with relevant hospital policies.
12. Treating others with dignity, respect, honesty, integrity and fairness.
13. Taking charge of the unit as and when is required.
14. Communicating effectively with the team.
15. To be fully conversant and comply with current legislation and professional standards.
To be successful for the higher level nurse positions you would be expected to take on a higher level of responsibility in the above tasks; beyond monitoring, reviewing and contributing.
Managerial
16. Be responsible for the provision of regular supervision sessions and ensure that annual appraisals are completed for allocated nursing staff in accordance with Hospital policy.
17. To assist in leading and monitoring the performance of the nursing team.
18. To be able to plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload in order to meet patient needs.
19. Act as a mentor for junior staff
20. Support recruitment of unqualified staff
21. Ensure thorough inductions are completed for all new and bureau staff.
To be successful as a Staff Nurse, you’ll need:
22. RGN/RMN/RNLD Qualification
Skills/Knowledge
23. Completion of pre-registration/ Preceptorship
24. Self motivated
25. Positive role model
26. Drive to take responsibility for personal learning and development.
27. Experience of working in a similar environment and role
28. A focus on patient centred care
29. Demonstrable experience of being a team player
30. Ability to be self-motivated and flexible
31. For higher level nursing position strong Leadership and management of people skills
32. Ability to problem solve and have a solution focussed approach.
