About Us: A thriving primary school in Feltham, catering to children aged 3 to 11 years with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, including those with additional diagnoses of autism. We currently have 198 pupils across two sites and are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every child’s communication potential can flourish. The School focuses on supporting pupils with complex language and communication needs. Our approach is centred around Total Communication, where each child has access to a range of communication methods. This includes: Touch and sensory cues Intensive Interaction Makaton signs and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) Symbols and switches Voice output communication aids (VOCAs) Verbal speech We are committed to providing an environment where each child can reach their full potential through individualised communication methods. About the Role: We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join our team. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for our pupils, working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff to deliver tailored education plans. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with severe or profound learning difficulties Support pupils with their communication, social, and emotional development Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including speech and language therapists, to implement a total communication environment Use a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, and switches, to support each child’s learning Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where every pupil is valued and respected Assess and monitor pupils' progress and adapt learning activities as needed to ensure their needs are met About You: The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for SEND education and experience working with children with complex communication needs. You should have: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience working with children with severe or profound learning difficulties (desirable but not essential) Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, and other communication systems (desirable, training can be provided) A patient, compassionate, and positive approach to teaching Strong communication and teamwork skills What we offer Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability).
