Academic Quality Assurance Manager at MONT ROSE COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCES LIMITED
Purpose of the role:
The main area of the position is to support the Quality Assurance department in its mission to make sure standards are embedded in practice and encourage innovative and creative approaches to course development and delivery. Working collaboratively with everyone academic and administrative staff alike is central to discharging effectively the function of the department.
At the moment, the department encompasses the quality assurance of Business, Hospitality, Health and Social Care, and Digital Technologies courses, working to deliver the inspection and monitoring of courses including assessing course preparation, delivery, and submissions among other things. There is scope to extend the oversight of the department to the Partnership University programmes with Buckinghamshire New University.
What you will do:
1. Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance manager and deputy manager as part of an inspection team to facilitate robust and consistent inspection processes.
2. Support the Quality Assurance manager to ensure learning from the quality assurance process is effectively disseminated.
3. Help to update the assessment plans for each programme which detail the units taught and the linked activities.
4. Help to update the assessment decisions tracking documents for each programme.
5. Prepare detailed, comprehensive and accurate reports of performance for each department and each assessor after the moderation process is completed identifying good practice and appropriate actions to embed standards in assessment.
6. Help prepare and deliver the annual external verification visits.
7. Be able to communicate effectively and in a timely manner to ensure a robust and speedy process.
8. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the quality assurance policies to support the academic team.
9. Work autonomously to deliver on time and on target the allocated tasks.
10. Participate in regular CPD events, subscribe to the QAA, OFS, OIA, Pearson newsletters, THE and HEPI blogs and to be up-to-date in key legislations and any news that affect the education sector as well as the subject related sectors.
11. Build and maintain strong professional relationships across teams and other regulatory bodies and agencies.
12. Set up the assignment briefs at the beginning of each term in collaboration with assessors and create the relevant internal verification documents.
13. Prepare the sample after marking is completed for internal verification purposes and communicate it to the diverse internal verifiers.
14. Participate in the VLE audits and compile the appropriate reports.
15. Help handle and save the video recordings and exam scans on Google Drive and communicate the relevant links to the concerned assessors.
16. Help design the standardisation material and quality meetings and help deliver them.
17. Support the Quality Assurance manager in moderating the internal verification process and in authorising results.
18. Support the Quality Assurance manager in any other capacity.
19. Acknowledge, investigate and respond to concerns and queries about courses and qualifications.
20. Contribute to developing and maintaining best practice in policy and operations.
Requirements:
1. Knowledge of engagement techniques and strategies with demonstrable experience of mediation, group facilitation and leading on techniques for consensus decision making.
2. The ability to exercise sound judgement and confidently justify any actions taken both in written form and during complex multi-level meetings.
3. High level of “customer service” and ability to manage a portfolio of activity.
4. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team and take initiative to drive personal work forward whilst supporting the delivery of team objectives.
5. Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability and commitment to deliver high quality, accurate work to tight deadlines.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with report writing ability.
7. Ability to design and deliver presentations for a range of different audiences and facilitating feedback sessions with assessors is a welcome addition.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Ability to effectively handle sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy and professionalism.
10. Some knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion policies and an appreciation of their relevance to our work.
11. A track record of respectful, open and honest behaviour including a demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Experience:
1. Experience in a related area or with transferable skills, for example governance or audit/inspection, and working with quality assurance systems and frameworks.
2. Experience of collating and using analytical information and robust evidence to inform decisions against a risk-based methodology.
3. A teaching/assessing experience is a welcome addition.
Qualification:
1. Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment is a minimum requirement.
2. Level 5 diploma or above in Education is a minimum requirement.
3. BA in either Business, Hospitality, Health and Social Care or Digital Technology would provide extra support to your application.
