Senior Accounts Manager
Location: Wigan
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hour week over 5 days, flexible working week between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
Salary: Competitive/DOE
My client, one of the leading independent practices of chartered accountants based in Wigan, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accounts Manager to join the team.
Based at their Wigan office and working as part of their Accounts team, you’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with clients, senior managers, directors, and partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing their services.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. To manage a variety of accounts from planning to completion and to supervise junior members of staff.
2. Accounts preparation work on complex clients, dealing with them where appropriate and referring them on to your director when necessary.
3. Prepare statutory accounts under FRS 101, FRS 102 and SORP 102.
4. Planning and work schedules to optimise yearends, interims, IR forms, statutory deadlines.
5. Manage and oversee client books in / out.
6. Handling any client queries.
7. External letters to clients, HMRC or statutory bodies.
8. Liaise with clients ensuring a timely delivery of services and manage the relationship in a professional manner.
9. Organise client meetings including agendas and memos.
10. Managing staff appraisals and development.
11. Effective management of both individual and staff time management.
12. Organise and lead Team Meetings.
13. Use of Excel spreadsheets to present and analyse key information.
14. Ensure client files are organised and up to date with new information and key changes.
15. Appropriate communication feedback with staff and partners.
16. Actively promote the firm's services to existing and new clients to enhance service offering.
17. Maintain positive relationship with clients, potential clients, introducers, and key stakeholders.
18. Regular attendance to business seminars, local events, press coverage, social gatherings and professional marketing opportunities.
19. Encourage a positive office culture and good team morale.
20. All other account-related tasks and any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Key skills & experience:
1. Minimum 2 years post ACA/ACCA qualification.
2. Qualified by experience would also be considered.
3. Minimum 3 years' accounts experience within a similar role, preferably 5 years.
4. Tax compliance experience preferred but not necessary.
5. Cloud based software is used regularly so knowledge of Xero and Sage would be beneficial.
6. Excellent attention to detail.
7. Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
8. Proactive approach.
9. Must be able to think clearly, deliver quickly and accurately.
10. Persistent, resourceful, self-motivated and be able to work to deadlines.
11. Ability to build effective working relationships, both internal and external.
