Job Opportunity: Fleet Manager
Are you a seasoned logistics professional looking to take your career to the next level? We have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Manager to join our client, a leading logistics services provider in the FMCG industry.
The Role
The Fleet Manager will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence across the region, responsible for all fleet management, maintenance, and VOR challenges. Key responsibilities include:
* Overseeing the day-to-day management and optimization of the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Monitoring and maintaining fleet compliance with all UK regulations, including DVSA standards, operator licence requirements, and health & safety legislation.
* Ensuring regular servicing, repairs, and MOT schedules are followed for all vehicles, minimizing downtime and ensuring roadworthiness.
* Implementing and maintaining robust fuel management strategies to track consumption, reduce costs, and improve fuel efficiency.
* Developing and enforcing vehicle tracking and telematics systems to optimize routes, enhance performance, and ensure accurate reporting.
* Managing and negotiating contracts with external suppliers, including leasing, maintenance, and insurance providers.
* Ensuring all drivers are trained and compliant with current legislation, including CPC requirements and health & safety protocols.
* Monitoring and controlling fleet budgets, including maintenance costs, fuel expenditure, and overall fleet expenses, while identifying potential savings.
* Leading the implementation of sustainability initiatives, including the transition to low-emission or electric vehicles where feasible.
* Conducting regular audits and risk assessments to identify and address any fleet-related issues, ensuring a proactive approach to risk management.
The Candidate
The successful candidate for the Fleet Manager position will possess:
* A Logistics Transport, Distribution & Supply Chain Background - Essential.
* 5+ years Fleet Management experience within a Logistics environment – Essential.
* A CPC National / International qualification, demonstrating your deep understanding of transportation regulations – Advantageous.
* Proven experience in managing 50+ vehicles – Essential.
* Sub-contract compliance management experience - Highly Advantageous.
* A true passion for people development, providing excellent service and continuous improvement - Advantageous.
* Strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence - Essential.
* Commutable to the Ipswich region each day - Essential.
Salary & Package:
* Salary - £50,000 to £55,000.
* Company Bonus Scheme.
* 25 Days + 8 Bank Holidays.
