We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing company based in Southport.
The Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer
We are seeking a versatile and well-rounded Manufacturing Engineer capable of writing CNC programs with CNC machining experience. The role involves joining our Engineering Department and integrating with the team immediately.
The Requirements for the Manufacturing Engineer
The successful candidate will have workplace experience programming Mazak and Doosan 3 and 4 axis CNC milling machines, and ideally have used FeatureCAM software.
Essential skills include understanding FANUC code, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, understanding cutting speeds and feeds, and experience in the introduction and implementation of new products.
Desirable skills include Mazak Millturn machine experience.
The candidate must be a team player and adaptable in their approach to duties.
Engineering Department – Quality Ownership, Awareness & Expectations
1. Poke-Yoke Devices: Always seeks to adopt and use poka-yoke devices to limit or avoid mistakes in production.
2. In Process Gauging Reviews: Reviews gauge listings when developing processes, creating plans, and CNC programs. Seeks to purchase new gauging tools if none are available.
3. Process & Planning Development: Identifies necessary tooling, gauging, and inspection frequencies. Promotes generation of tooling, setup sheets, or SOPs to support manufacturing.
4. Engineering related changes: Notifies quality department of any changes to drawings or plans, especially when copying plans for similar jobs.
5. Special Projects: Takes ownership of special processes, managing associated files and providing up-to-date status reports.
6. Archiving & Up Revising Plans: Archives plans before additional work, ensuring changes are controlled via Up Revisions in Omnis records.
7. Planning Updates: Reviews and updates plans for invalid notes, references, or documents.
8. CNC Programs: Develops programs using optimal tools for good surface finishes and aesthetics, referencing drawing revisions accurately.
9. Opsketches: Generates necessary Opsk’s to support manufacturing and treatment requirements, seeking support from design engineers when needed.
10. NCM Support: Supports NCM processes, identifying root causes and owning corrective and preventive actions.
The Rewards/Package for the Manufacturing Engineer role:
* Salary £35,000+ (DOE).
* 37 hours per week, Monday-Thursday with early finish on Fridays (7:30am-12:30pm). Alternative shift patterns may be considered.
