The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the position of Systems Administrator I/II in our Information Technology Department. Currently there is one (1) Systems Administrator II vacancy. This recruitment will serve to establish an eligibility list that may be used to fill additional vacancies that could occur over the next 12-month period.
Salary Information:
Systems Administrator I $79,019 – $96,048/Annually
Systems Administrator II $86,921 – $105,652/Annually
This position may be eligible for a remote/hybrid work schedule.

Systems Administrators perform a variety of duties, including operations, maintenance and support of the City’s application systems, network servers and databases. Duties within this role include, but are not limited to:
* Supports and provides assistance with the more complex system problems and project implementations
* Administers server systems including development, evaluation and troubleshooting; maintains integrity of data and programs on the network servers
* Installs and configures various technology-related devices
* Trains new users as needed
* Tracks, identifies and corrects problems involving hardware components and improper use and configuration of software and hardware
The ideal candidate will have a strong background rooted in IT application support, operations and maintenance. Desirable characteristics include:
* Ability to be resourceful, collaborative, adaptable and able to think on their feet
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong organizational skills to manage the changing priorities of a fast-paced department
* Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to work in an effective manner with all City departments and with all levels of employees
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:
Systems Administrator I
Education: An Associate’s Degree, including 18 units in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Networking or a closely related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time work experience involving information system implementation, maintenance, and management, network systems administration and technical support.
Systems Administrator II
Education: An Associate’s Degree, including 18 units in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Networking or a closely related field.
Experience: Two years work experience performing increasingly responsible duties in a position equivalent to a Systems Administrator I in the City of Vacaville. Duties of a Systems Administrator I can be found here: Systems Administrator I
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Certifications equivalent to: CompTIA A+ and Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associates, (or similar) and the ITIL Foundation certification (or similar) is highly desirable.
